Sourcing vintage and antique jewellery
When it comes to sparkly things, I am a bit of a magpie. I love jewellery, whether it be the costume and paste variety, or the real thing. But one thing unites all my favourite pieces of jewellery – it is vintage and antique pieces that I love the most. I love the idea that something so beautiful may also have a provenance, a story behind it, that it may have been super special to the person who first owned it. I wear my nan’s gold and diamond engagement ring every single day, knowing that it replaced a ration era thin band of gold and so was much loved and…

Charity Shop, Vinted And Vintage Buys
It’s been a while since my last look at the bargains you can find in Charity shops and on Vinted, so in this post, I am collating some of the things I have either bought myself, or, at the very least, have seen on my travels over the Summer. It has to be said, there have been some great thrifty buys this Summer. I have noticed that a lot of the really great finds this Summer have been accessories – lots of really good quality handbags from brands like Dune, Orla Kiely and even a vintage St Michael label straw bag complete with original tags (I’m thinking this in a…

Charity Shops, Vintage And Vinted Buys – Wales Edition
It’s finally Spring, the sun came out at the weekend, and I spent a fabulous Easter week in Mid Wales, one of my favourite places in the World. The weather was pretty kind, managed to miss most of the rain that seemed to tumble down, and I had lots of chance to look out for some fabulous charity shop and vintage finds, as well as being able to wear some of my thrifted Vinted finds. Spring is a great time to look at your wardrobe, but that doesn’t mean spending a fortune, you can still be thrifty. Many people use the new season as a chance to have a wardrobe…

Charity Shop And Vinted Finds – January Edition
It’s January again, for many the darkest, dullest month of the year after the glitter and lights of Christmas. It is true that our houses seem to be much gloomier places once the decorations come down, it is also true that the clear up allows us to have a really good sort out and to clear some of the clutter and debris of our homes, and this also includes our wardrobes. If you are having a sort out this month, don’t forget that you could be helping a good cause by donating clean, undamaged goods to one of the many charity shops you find on our High Streets. Acorns Children’s Hospice…

Acorns – Second Hand First Choice
I spent a wonderful night last week at one of the Acorns shops that supports the vital work of the Acorns Children’s Hospice. The shop, in Barnt Green, was hosting a media night to promote Sustainable Fashion Week, which runs from 25th September to 8th October. (Yes, I know that’s a fortnight!). As this week also falls into ‘Second Hand September’ it really is the perfect opportunity to look to changing your existing shopping habits by buying preloved, making sustainable fashion choices that not only help the planet, but help to raise vital, much needed funds for worthwhile good causes. Acorns is a charity retail arm that seeks to shatter…
